A broader, sustained body is needed to support community accountancy services in England. This project builds on existing work with CASH (Community Accountancy Self Help), in which we have identified a need to strengthen this national network and ensure its sustainability. The increasing demand for community accountants needs to be met with an improved infrastructure for the profession.
Having strong financial management processes in place, is essential for any third sector organisation to ensure they are making the most of their resources.
WHO?
CASH is leading on this project commissioned by the Finance Hub. The Hub is responding to the need to strengthen this national network and ensure its sustainability. This will be through primarily strengthening web resources, and developing quality standards building on the toolkit that was produced during 2006/7.
WHAT?
During the phase 2 work financed through the Finance Hub, a paper was produced which highlighted areas and issues for quality control in the delivery of community accountancy services. This project will build on this work to produce a quality assurance system which CAS can adopt.
The project will design and build a system which will be tested on at least 4 CAS with different scenarios. The standards will be published on the website with appropriate promotion and guidance.
The second part of this project is to strengthen and promote CANN’s website www.communityaccounting.org The site will be revised with lead CAS being trained to be able to edit it on a regular basis.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
The main target audience are community accountants, those with community accountancy within their role and members of CANN. However, the website will provide a key place of reference for those smaller organisations needing accounting or finance advice from a local CAS.
