The receipt of a grant is a serious commitment and due consideration of the management of both the funding and your organisation should be given before taking up such a commitment. A little research is always required when looking for funding, making sure that applications are made to the appropriate organisation for funding and that there is capacity within the group to manage the grant.
If you’re unsure of whether you meet the criteria of a particular grant it’s always worth making contact with the funder just to make sure. Most funders will provide you with as much information as they can to help you make the right choice.
Find out how funders like to receive applications – many will not appreciate a circular if they have a specific application form. And always plan ahead – most funders work to specific deadlines.
